My Goal is to help students find their passion in dance through the love of music and movement. Class time is spent learning technique and rehearsal time is spent learning choreography.
Toddlers & Preschoolers: My teaching philosophy for this age group is to be vivacious, fun and to always keep them moving. I use preschool music, create fun "story dances" and involve the use of props (ribbons, scarves, balls, hula hoops, etc), to make learning dance concepts fun.
Early Elementary: My teaching philosophy for this age group is to be silly, funny and informative. I use images that these students can relate to. I introduce these students to the official terminology used in dance and start to focus on performance quality. Having fun is still the focus with a little more discipline.
Later Elementary/Teens/Adults: My teaching philosophy for this age group is to be creative, caring and focused. I give this age group the opportunity to explore their own choreographic skills. I still want my students to have fun, but a little more discipline is required at this level. Some of the best friendships are developed in dance and some great memories are made right in the studio.
Discipline is required at all levels, but as the student advances through each level of dance, more discipline is required. Students learn new skills through patience and practice. I use visual imagery to help students understand dance concepts. Most students are not going to become professional dancers, so my goal is to have fun in class, while learning the proper way to execute a movement. I hope that my students have a life long love and appreciation for dance. I hope I have inspired someone along the way to become a better person. Come join us and have fun learning the art of dance.
