Welcome To My Class....
Hello! My name is Lisa Bredahl and I am originally from Northern Michigan, near Traverse City. I began dancing at age 14 and one year later I began teaching dance at a local community education program.
I have performed professionally with 3 x 3 Dance, Company Dance Traverse, Young Michigan Dances, Kalamazoo Junior Dance Co, West Michigan Dance Collaborative, and most recently, The Children's Ballet Theatre of St. Thomas.
I originally trained with Elisa Brabenec and Julie Rice in Traverse City, MI and Elda Soneral of Cadillac, MI. I continued at Western Michigan University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Dance. I studied with dance professors, including: Sharon Garber, David Curwen, Eugene Mills, Jane Baas, Lindsey Thomas, and Nina Nelson. I continued my studies with master teachers including, Martine van Hamel of ABT, Charthel Arther of the Joffrey, Paul Sutherland of the Joffrey, Cherie Noble of the Joffrey and Paul Abrahamson of Chicago Ballet. The summer of 2014 I had the opportunity to attend a dance teaching seminar with Bruce Marks, Roni Mahler and Rhee Gold. In the summer of 2015, I attended a teacher's training seminar with physiotherapist, Lisa Howell.
I have studied ballet/pointe, pas de deux, jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, musical theatre, swing and Pilates. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Dance from Western Michigan University in 1999, but have been teaching since 1985. I owned a music and dance school for 19 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan and now I'm the director of MLB School of Dance in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
My hobbies include enjoying my pet bird "Tweets" and my dog "Nutmeg', traveling, Caribbean history, genealogy, music, snorkeling and dancing. I have traveled to many places, including Russia, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, France, England, Germany, Finland, Mexico, Canada, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, the BVI, Italy, Croatia, and Greece. My future travel bucket list includes West Africa.
I am the mother of 2 grown children, Trent and Alana. Trent is a musician and plays in his own metal rock band in Indianapolis. Alana is a YouTuber and author who lives in St. Croix. In her spare time she practices yoga, performs aerial silks and cuddles with her dog, Coconut. I can't forget my husband, G, who is my main support system and teacher of all things "Caribbean". He's the owner and lead tour guide of Jammin Jeep Tours, LLC.
Welcome and I look forward to sharing the joy of dance with you!!
